The Museum of Aeronautical Sciences has been awarded a certificate
The Museum of Aeronautical Sciences has been awarded a certificate on Friday, April 19, 2024, following The Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space’s recognition of the YS-11 passenger aircraft as an aerospace technology heritage.
The certificate was presented by the society to the museum, which is exhibiting the first prototype, as well as to the Hirosawa Aviation Museum, a general incorporated foundation, which is exhibiting the first mass-produced aircraft, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., which holds the aircraft's type certificate.

About the Museum of Aeronautical Sciences
Opened in 1989, this is Japan's first comprehensive facility for promoting aviation knowledge. Located in the Sky Park Shibayama area, south of Runway A at Narita International Airport, it exhibits actual aircraft structures including the first prototype of the YS-11, -a domestic passenger aircraft that is an important aviation heritage, and the nose of the only Boeing 747 in Japan.
The landscape of the Museum of Aeronautical Sciences and Narita Airport has been selected as a Chiba an important cultural asset, and as a bridge between the airport, the aviation industry, and the area around the airport, it aims to contribute to improving the vitality of culture, tourism, and other areas through collaboration and cooperation with various local entities.
