The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) has launched the "Japan Official Travel App". The app which is intended for foreign travelers, features ‘ROUTE SEARCH’ which covers all means of public transportation including Japan Rail (JR), subway lines, airlines, taxis, and ferry service, providing information on traffic such as delay, service suspension, etc. ‘DISCOVER’ for updated articles and information about tourist spots in Japan. ‘POINTS OF INTEREST’ where users can search for various spots by keywords, such as ATMs, luggage storage areas, free Wi-Fi services, hospitals, etc. The ‘SAFETY ASSISTANCE’ feature provides alert notifications that warn of natural disasters, extreme weather, and other emergencies. Information in case of emergencies such as directions to emergency shelters, medical assistance, contact information for embassies, and a communication card with useful phrases to help those with no knowledge of the Japanese language are also provided.

“Japan Official Travel App” is the official smartphone app provided by JNTO, delivering up-to-date information about traveling in Japan for a safe and comfortable journey. The app is provided in four languages: Chinese (Simplified/Traditional), English, and Korean.
